Don’t be a Google copy, be your own copy.

The reason Google is such as successful company is that they’re not afraid of stepping out and trying something new. I love that spirit.

When was the last time you did something different, or for the first time?? Life becomes stale when we get stuck on the wheel of familiarity. Try something out, do something different to shake things up.

Loved this blog post by the Wall Street Journal, which explains “Why Office Design Matters.” Why not trial moving your furniture around, or swapping your team with another company. I reckon we would see a lot more creativity, passion from our teams, and in the end obtain better results than simply doing the same thing day in, day out. If it worked for Google, and the rest of the great innovators out there. Why wouldn’t you try something different?

Don’t just be a Google copy, be your own copy. Just use Google, and like minded souls as your springboard.

    I love this post . You often see many unsuccessful start ups doing the same things as the leaders, the only problem is, those ideas are no longer fresh, they’ve been used before. Companies like Google are where they are because of their innovative ways, not because they’ve copied the companies who were at the top of the industry. If Google mimicked Yahoo, internet search engines would be a disaster. Yahoo likes to bombard their users with the latest news and information, which works for them and their loyal users. Google took a more simplistic approach, as you can see on their homepage, and this easy to use method has dominated the industry.

      I couldn’t agree more! I just had a chat with some people about what they should call their business/ brand. They weren’t sure if they should use their individual name, or name their company different. Personally, I don’t think it matters now. What do you think?

        Finding the right name can be very difficult. Whether you choose to use your individual name or create a word or phrase can vary by industry. If you look into the financial sectors many of these businesses choose to brand individual names. When you look at Tech companies it’s not very often that they go with an individual name. These companies usually create a name that prevously meant nothing but now means something, ie: Google, Twitter, Facebook, Yelp, Pinterest.

        I think the biggest thing is to look what industry you are in and go from there. But as we’ve both said above, you can’t just copy what the “winners” are doing, you will never get ahead.
