Are you fluent in social media yet?

Being fluent in a foreign language, and learning to lip read a language are very different.

Fluency in French, for example, suggests the ability to speak or write in french easily with accuracy. There is a deeper understanding here; and ability to communicate freely, with an extensive vocabulary on hand.

At School, I had a great passion to learn French, (I guess I still do) but as it turns out my name fell under the wrong letter, which in turn destined me to learn German instead. And yet that didn’t stop me from learning the words of my favourite French song, Moi Lotia by Alizee; and performing the song in front of the whole school in one of our many talent contests.

At the end of my performance I got the shock of my life when my German teacher who was supervising us at the time, came up at the end to congratulate me on my French!

If it’s possible for an innocent young girl to memorize her favourite pop song, in another language, then it’s possible to act like you understand social media, but actually don’t.

If you own a business of any shape or size, then please learn the basic language of social media first, before you  go handing over your social strategy to a third-party.

There is more frustrating that to see small businesses get ripped off when all they really needed was a little bit of training along the way.
